Winter Bike Maintenance Class Series - REGISTRATION

Enhance your maintenance skills for the upcoming season with Bikes Unlimited's annual Winter Bike Maintenance Classes!

Join us every Tuesday night throughout February, from the 6th to the 27th.

The breakdown for class content is as follows: 

Week 1: Shifting and chain repair.
- Introduction to the different types of bicycle drivetrains (e.g., front and rear derailleur, electronic vs. mechanical,)
- Understanding gear ratios and how they affect performance
- Proper shifting techniques and avoiding common mistakes
- Troubleshooting shifting issues and adjusting derailleurs
- Learn how to properly take out links and install trail side quick links to get you going again.

Week 2: Braking
- Types of bicycle brakes (e.g., rim brakes, disc brakes)
- Understanding brake components and their functions
- Proper brake pad inspection and replacement
- Adjusting and fine-tuning brake calipers for optimal performance
- Techniques for maintaining consistent braking power on the trail

Week 3: Tubeless Tire Repair
- Introduction to tubeless tire systems and their benefits
- Proper installation and maintenance of tubeless tires
- Identifying and fixing common tubeless tire issues (e.g., punctures, leaks)
- Techniques for using tubeless tire sealant and reseating the tire on the trail
- Emergency solutions for sealing larger punctures or sidewall tears during a ride

Week 4: Review and Practice
- Recap of the topics covered in the previous weeks
- Hands-on practice sessions for participants to apply their knowledge
- Troubleshooting scenarios and group discussions on trailside maintenance challenges
- Tips for building a basic trailside repair kit and essential tools to carry
- Q&A session and final thoughts on bike maintenance and self-sufficiency on the trail

Our overall goal is to make you more confident and familiar with your beloved machine to help you become a more prepared rider in the future.

The cost of entree is $85 with each participant receiving a Bottle of Muc-Off Bike Cleaner, Muc-Off Chain Lube, and a $20 gift certificate to Bikes Unlimited (In total a $50 value!!!) at the end of the 4 weeks!
